Design Manager - Urban Design

• Ensure the preferred house type range and apartment designs are on trend in terms of special planning and maximise the customer and community engagement through thoughtful design
• Be well versed in the impact to urban design due to NDSS and Approved Document M Cats 1, 2 and 3 as well as all other Building Regulations and Planning Requirements
• Promote the preferred housetypes, communicating the value of each design and take on board any constructive criticism for improvement from all internal functions as well as external customers
• Manage the operation of the site-specific variations advising Designers as to where they could improve their proposals
• Ensure Urban Design criteria are facilitated to ensure site layout plotting best practice is achievable. This will include the management of Plotting Books
• Also engage in the regular Site Layout Review process, joining the review team to regulatory critique early versions of site layout design
• Develop and provide support for our Placemaking initiatives – BFHL principles
•  Provide guidance on the Biodiversity proposals to ensure that Biodiversity Net Gain is achieved on all developments where required
• Commission and oversee CGI images and sales/marketing material used to produce point of sale literature for all house and apartment designs
• Protect, enhance, and differentiate the brand from our competitors
• Attend and present at both internal and external conferences, functions and workshops

• Experience within the Housebuilding industry 
• Qualification in Urban Design, Architectural Technology or equivalent experience
• Creative design in placemaking
• Ability to communicate effectively to both internal and external stakeholders
• A fluent design capability together with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary project as well as on own initiative
• Ability to lead in challenging situations and guide in delivering efficient award-winning schemes
• Passionate about keeping our values and vision at the heart of everything we do
  
• Experience with AutoCAD/Revit and similar design software
• Great verbal and written communication skills
  
• Proficient IT skills – Office, Word, Excel
• Full UK Driving licence
