The six most exciting interior design trends to follow in 2025

As we step into a new year, there’s no better time to refresh your home decor and consider an interior update.

As we step into a new year, there’s no better time to refresh your home decor and consider an interior update.

With 2025 just around the corner, designers are forecasting bold colours, nature-inspired textures, and an increased focus on personalisation. Whether you’re planning a home makeover or just looking to make a few updates, here are some of the top interior design trends to follow in 2025, as suggested by Sarah Coward, Senior Design Project Manager at Clayton & Company.

  1. Colours inspired by nature

2025 is the year to embrace colour with confidence. Moving away from minimalist neutrals, the new year brings a shift towards earthier tones that bring personality and character into every room. According to Sarah, “Colour palettes inspired by nature will be everywhere – warm earthy tones like terracotta, dark brown and olive green feature prominently in cushion fabrics, painted walls and artwork”.

  1. Textured walls and ceilings

Texture is a major focus for interiors in 2025, bringing intensity and warmth to homes. While painted drywall is classic, more people are turning to textured wall treatments like Venetian plaster, faux finishes, and tactile wallpapers that mimic stone or linen. Designers are also transforming ceilings with materials like wood panelling, coffered designs, and even bold wallpaper.

  1. Double drenching

Double-drenching, also known as colour drenching, is the monochromatic trend taking over home decor in 2025. By using a single colour, you can create a space that feels both bold and harmonious, perfect for those looking to make a style statement with simplicity.

Sarah explains further, “Colour drenching is a trend we’re seeing a lot more of. It’s the process of using colour to paint everything — walls, ceilings, radiators, doors, and even furniture — in the same colour. It’s very effective for creating impact, especially if you choose dark, moody tones.”

  1. Curved furniture and organic shapes

According to Sarah, curved furniture and organic design elements are set to add softness and elegance to interiors in 2025. “We’re going to continue to see the influence of nature in interior design,” says Sarah. “Organic shapes and gentle curves echo the natural world more than rigid lines and using curves in within a small room is particularly useful as it can help to create the illusion of more space”.

  1. Post-modernist furniture

Post-modernist furniture is set to be a major interior design trend in 2025, reviving bold design elements from the 80s with a contemporary twist. The design features playful sculptural forms that often use simple table tops supported by dramatic bases in geometric shapes like cones and spheres. This trend brings a sense of artistry to rooms, making furniture stand out as more than just functional items.

  1. Cool metallics

While warm metallics like gold, bronze, and copper remain popular, the design scene in 2025 is shifting towards cool metallics. Silver brings a sleek, contemporary edge, fitting seamlessly into both modern and minimalist spaces. Its reflective quality adds light and sophistication, without being overwhelming, making it perfect for accents like lighting, hardware and decor pieces.
