222 RAF Air Cadet Squadron flying high after homebuilder donation
Tilia Homes Eastern and The Royal Air Force Air Cadets have partnered to provide the 222 (Broadlands) Squadron recruits with two brand new laptops.
The laptops will support with training and honing of key skills in leadership, while promoting and encouraging a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force. They will be used for classification training, including aviation studies, map reading, first aid, health fitness and wellbeing, as well as the history of and current day of the RAF.
Tilia Homes has made the contribution as part of its community engagement programme linked to it development, Furlong Heath in Sprowston.
The 222 (Broadlands) Squadron currently parades with 40 cadets between the ages of 12-20, with 11 adult volunteers.
Flying Officer Paul Middleditch RAFAC, Officer Commanding at 222 (Broadlands) Squadron, comments: "This donation to our Squadron will assist in providing innovative, inclusive and life enhancing experiences for young people. We take pride in providing opportunities for our cadets to take part in flying and gliding, classroom-based training, first aid training, as well as adventurous activities and sports.
“We are now increasingly able to exploit technology in delivering exciting challenges through immersive training including STEM that develops skills that will enhance education and improve employability. This will help us to foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship"

Surrounded by open, green space and lined with trees, Furlong Heath comprises of 251 three- and four-bedroom homes.
Furlong Heath also has a children’s play area situated on the development and is near plenty of great schools ranging from pre-school to university level education, including Falcon Junior School, Sprowston Academy.
